The area - The apartment is situated on a new residential urbanisation, and
as a ‘resident’ you have access to any of the three communal swimming pools, the
nearest is only
around a 30 second walk from the apartment. They are unheated but this is no
problem in the Spanish summer heat, when a cool dip is welcome break from the
heat of the glorious sunshine. (click
here to check the up to date weather) Within a minutes walk, there are two
bars and a restaurant which sometime have live entertainment, there is also a
Chinese restaurant - Chinese restaurants are extremely good value in Spain where
in some places, a 3 course meal, with wine can cost as little as £3.00 !! There
is also a bank (BBVA) which
has
a cash-point machine and this is situated next to a hardware shop (Ferreteria),
also in the block is a Panderia (bread shop) where you can get a coffee or light
snack
Around the area there are many eating places, some English owned and some
Spanish where Tapas (small plates of different dishes) are always available, you
ask for the dishes you fancy, so you can all try the different tastes. There are
pizza restaurants, tapas bars, an English tea shop, several Chinese, a couple of
Indian restaurants, even a Patagonian steak house, in fact on the average
holiday, you could eat somewhere different every day. Most of the year, all
restaurants have outdoor eating where you can sit and enjoy your meal or drinks
sat in the sun, it can’t be beaten. There are also many bars within walking
distance.
This part of Spain is renowned for it’s beaches, (Costa Blanca - White Coast)
and the nearest, Los Arenales is no exception with its golden sands. The
promenade has shops, bars and restaurants, or try Playa Carabassi with it’s sand
dunes and shaded pine area with picnic tables. The bus service runs to the
beach, or it is a 2 minute drive. The developments are on the top of the ridge
overlooking the beaches and is a
very
popular site for paragliding. We have contacts who can instruct, guide or even
take you on a tandem flight. If
you are already a pilot, there is also a guiding service available, who this
year had 270 days of flying!! (please
email for details).
There is a coast road which runs from Gran Alacant to Santa Pola. This small
stretch of the coast is mostly rocky and is a very popular spot where the
local Spanish people fish from the rocks.
There is also a health centre in the area, and a chemist (pharmacia). The
chemists are different to England as they will sell all sorts of medicines over
the counter, even
antibiotics etc.
The area is being developed all the time and the local council of Santa Pola
holds meetings with local residents to see what is needed for the infrastructure
of the area, so things are always changing, therefore information on this site
cannot be guaranteed and only used for reference. |
